We hope you had a great Valentine's Day and George Washington's Birthday!

Now that we've enjoyed the February holidays, our attention tends to turn towards spring and Easter.

Tasha Tudor started her garden in Vermont nearly fifty years ago, yet brought to it many decades of prior knowledge and experience. It is a very old garden created with much wisdom. Pleasing to the eye, it possesses plants and a purpose beyond visual appeal. She called it “just a good messy garden.”

On a partly-sunny day, when the skies are heavy with impending rain, but the sun refuses to be entirely hidden, the greens around Tasha's house are stunning. The leaves offer a hundred shades of green when the sunlight teases us and catches the dew.

The summer has been going faster than the water striders Ellie loves to watch flit around the rain barrels (such as they are this dry summer). Can you believe it is nearly August? There is still so much to be done! Luckily, berries have been picked, and ice cream has been made, iced tea enjoyed, and of course, we were pleased to share the June splendor with many of our fans and friends during the summer Corgi Cottage Tours: Tasha's House & Garden.

Spring has sprung!

Seed collecting is a time-honored, and time-consuming, process. But rewarding, as are so many old-fashioned pursuits. There is a pleasant beauty one can find in such a task. Amy Tudor, Tasha's granddaughter-in-law, as I'm sure you all know, has agreed to share her process.

A classic poem for this beautiful time of year....

WHEN the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock,
And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin' turkey-cock,
And the clackin' of the guineys, and the cluckin' of the hens,
And the rooster's hallylooyer as he tiptoes on the fence;
O, it's then the time a feller is a-feelin' at his best,
With the risin' sun to greet him from a night of peaceful rest,
As he leaves the house, bareheaded, and goes out to feed the stock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock...

The path to Tasha Tudor's house...the field has been mown and laid to rest for the year.

We have arrived at the middle of Autumn. We've been drinking apple cider by the bucket full, admiring the foliage on bright sunny days and misty foggy days, and relishing the opportunity to wear our shawls and wellies again. We were all sure to layer up for our September 29th Corgi Cottage Tours. It was a cold & rainy day, but we all had a wonderful time.

We had lovely weather this year for our June Secret Gardens Tours. We welcome this weekend each year with great anticipation, looking forward to new friends, old friends, invigorating conversation, and delicious Stillwater Punch from Tasha's cookbook. Everyone gathers from afar, bringing with them the stories that drew them to Tasha. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend...
